You are now registered with and logged in to the best domain registrar: Namecheap and you can proceed to purchase your first domain. Go to Domains and click on Register a Domain.
Type in the domain you would like to purchase and click Search. Namecheap will show you the ones that are available. As an example, I tried my own name and as expected most TLDs are available. TLDs are the extensions at the end of a domain name such as .com or .net. It’s always best to try getting a .com. .net and .org are good alternatives too. If the domain you want isn’t available, try out another one.
Check all the domains you’re interested in purchasing. You can pick as many as you wish. I chose The .com, .net and .org TLDs. When done hit ADD TO CART.
Make sure that the free WhoisGuard has been added to your cart for each domain name purchased. By law, the details of the owner of a domain name have to be made publicly available. This means that everyone and their sister will be able to find out your name, address and telephone number if they know your domain name. With the WhoisGuard protection, your details will be protected from public view. This service is a must and Namecheap offers it for free, making them the best domain name registrar in my opinion, as well as that of many others. If this is not your first purchase on Namecheap, hit Express Checkout to pay right away, otherwise click on Checkout to proceed to configure your domain.
