9. Choose a name for your new database and take note of this, since we will need it later. The name will be in the format [Your Site5 Username]_[Name chosen for your Database], for example, “arthur_newsite“. Click on “Create Database And Add User” when done.
10. Create an account to manage the newly created database. Choose a username and a password and then click Finish. Take note of both the username and the password, as we will need these later too. The database name and the username need not be the same. In this example, I have chosen to make them identical to remember them easily.
OPTIONAL: LOADING YOUR SITE FROM A SUB DOMAIN OR ADD ON DOMAIN
10A. You can have your site loaded from a subdomain or an addon domain. For example, http://new.moneyearningsites.net (subdomain) or h**p://mynewsite.eu (new domain). While subdomains are free, if you want a new domain, you will have to purchase it from a registrar, such as Namecheap. In the Site5 cpanel (or whoever your host is), scroll up to the section named “Domains“. Click on Subdomains, if you want to use a subdomain or Addon Domains, if you have a new domain name purchased from Namecheap.
10B To use a Subdomain, type in the name of the subdomain that you want to use. In this case, I have chosen “new” and then the name of the folder where you installed WordPress. As per optional step 6A-C, in this tutorial, I have installed WordPress to a folder named “newsite“, so that’s what I have to use as document root. When done, click Create.
To use a Domain, type in the name of the domain you purchased. In this case mynewsite.eu and then the name of the folder where you installed WordPress. As per optional step 6A-C in this tutorial, I have installed WordPress to a folder named “newsite”, so that’s what I have to use as document root. Create an FTP account which you will use in Filezilla to manage this domain, by choosing a username and password. Click Create, when finished. You will need to change your nameservers to point to your Site5 account.
Take note that due to subdomain and domain propagation, the changes make take up to 48 hours to take effect. This is normal and has nothing to do with your host or the registrar. While waiting for the changes to go live, you will still be able to access the website from your main domain (unless that has been newly registered too). That is by typing in your browser’s address bar, h**p://moneyearningsites.net/newsite/
